Come to Scotland & let the story unfold
A relaxed, photography-led Highland adventure for individuals and couples who want something a little more than a traditional portrait session.
We’ll wander, talk, laugh, stop for coffee and follow the landscape, light and weather wherever they take us while creating photographs that belong completely to your day.
£695 |Duration 3–5 hours | Session & Photo Package | Glen Coe, Scotland
MORE THAN A PHOTOSHOOT
People have been travelling to Scotland to have their photographs taken with us for years.
Over this time, we realised the days we remember most weren’t only about the photographs we made. They were about the people we met, the places we wandered, the conversations, the laughter and everything that happened in between.
We talk (lots). We wander. We laugh.
We stop for coffee and biscuits. Get distracted by beautiful light, embrace rain, chase a rainbow, run away from midges, walk in the mud, hike up a hill and yes take some photographs too.
Lots of them!
HOW IT WORKS
We usually meet in the morning, when Glencoe is a little quieter and we have plenty of time ahead of us.
From there, the day is deliberately loose. We’ll move between a few favourite places, photograph as we go, stop when something catches our eye and change plans when the Scottish weather inevitably decides it knows better than we do.
Glencoe gives us an incredible variety of landscapes within a relatively small area, so we can follow the light, escape a busy spot or simply decide somewhere else looks more interesting.
Most adventures last around 3–5 hours, but we’d rather you didn’t spend them watching the clock.
WHO IS THIS FOR?
You don’t need to be a model, an adventurer or particularly comfortable in front of a camera.
Highland Adventure Portraits are for individuals and couples who love Scotland, beautiful imagery and the idea of letting the day unfold rather than following a rigid plan.
Come as yourself. Celebrate something. Mark a chapter in your life. Bring an outfit you’ve always wanted to wear in the Highlands. Or step into an entirely different character for a few hours.
THE PHOTOGRAPHS
Every Highland Adventure produces something different. We work with natural light and respond to the landscape, weather and mood of the day. Sometimes the photographs are dramatic and cinematic. Sometimes they’re quiet, romantic and understated. Afterwards, I’ll select and individually edit the strongest photographs in my signature soft, painterly style.
The photographs you receive belong to your day.
They’re not a recreation of something we’ve seen elsewhere. They’re a reflection of what we experienced and created together.

A few things you might be wondering
-
We usually meet in the morning at an agreed spot in Glen Coe and spend around 3–5 hours together. There’s no rigid itinerary. We’ll move between a few locations, photograph as we go and adapt to the light, weather and how the day unfolds.
-
Absolutely not. Most people I photograph aren’t used to being in front of a camera. I’ll guide you when you need it, but we’ll also walk, talk and give you things to do so it never feels like hours of standing around posing.
-
Layers, texture and natural or softer colours tend to work beautifully in the Highlands, but the most important thing is that you feel like yourself. Once you're booked, I’m very happy to help with clothing ideas. Sensible shoes and something warm and waterproof are always worth bringing too.
-
This is Scotland, so there’s a fairly good chance it might! Mist, cloud, wind and even a little rain can create some of my favourite photographs. We keep the day flexible and work with what Glen Coe gives us.
-
I’ll keep an eye on the forecast as your date approaches. If conditions look genuinely unsuitable or unsafe, we’ll talk through the options. Where possible, we may be able to adjust our start time or move to a nearby day if we're both available.
-
We’ll agree a meeting point in Glen Coe beforehand. You’ll need your own transport to reach Glen Coe and to travel between our locations during the adventure. Our own travel from Perthshire to Glen Coe is already included in the price.
-
Yes. Highland Adventure Portraits are designed for individuals or couples. They aren’t intended as traditional family sessions with young children.
-
Please do. If there’s something you’ve always imagined yourself wearing or creating in the Highlands, tell me about it. We can work out what’s practical and whether any particular location or setup needs permission.
-
Your photographs are individually selected and edited, so I don’t rush them. Galleries are usually ready within a couple of weeks, although please allow up to four weeks during particularly busy periods.
-
Absolutely. Your Highland Adventure includes high-resolution photographs for your own personal printing and sharing, including your personal social media.
The £695 price is for personal use only. If the photographs are intended for a business, brand, professional promotion, advertising or any other commercial purpose, a separate commercial price and licence will apply. Please get in touch before booking and I’ll provide a quote based on how the photographs will be used.

No, I don’t photograph weddings themselves. But if you’d love photographs of just the two of you without the timetable and pressures of a wedding day, a Highland Adventure can be a lovely way to celebrate your story together.
It could be an engagement, an anniversary, part of a trip to Scotland, or a chance to put the wedding clothes back on and head into the Highlands together after the big day.
All the romance, but with time to actually enjoy yourselves.
FANCY A HIGHLAND ADVENTURE OF YOUR OWN?
You don’t need to arrive with a plan. Just tell me a little about yourself, when you’ll be in Scotland and any dates you have in mind.
We can take it from there.

THEN THERE'S THE COFFEE CLUB...
Something is brewing…. (pardon the pun!).
The Auld Romantics Coffee Club is something we're creating for the wonderful people we've photographed, and those who'll join us on future Highland Adventures. Once you have had a Highland Adventure with us, you will be part of it.
Over the coming year, we hope to build a little community of familiar faces, future get-togethers, Highland nostalgia and a few things we've made especially for our Coffee Club people.
Because the photographs might be where it starts, but the people have always been the best part.
