Natural Light Portraits

Natural Light Portraits

Perthshire & Tayside

Portraits for whoever you want to be

A relaxed natural-light portrait session for one person, created at an agreed location in Perthshire or Tayside.

Come as you are, or come with an idea. These sessions are about creating photographs that feel individual, without any expectation that you should already know what to do in front of a camera.

You don’t need to know how to be photographed

Most people don't. We will walk, talk, move around and give you something to do rather than expecting you to stand there and perform. I'll guide you when you need it, but there is plenty of room for things to happen naturally too. And if you'd rather step into a character, play with an idea or create something a little more imaginative, I'm very much here for that too.

The aim isn't to turn you into somebody else. Unless, of course, that's exactly what you want to do.

Location & Travel

Sessions take place at an agreed outdoor or naturally lit location within Perthshire or Tayside. If you have a particular location in mind, any necessary photography permissions must be confirmed by you with the landowner or venue before your session can be booked. Alternatively, I'm happy to suggest locations where I know we can photograph.

Travel within 30 road miles of central Perth is included. Beyond this, additional return mileage is charged at 55p per mile, with any parking, tolls or longer journeys agreed beforehand.

A few things you might be wondering…

How does a session work?

Before

We'll talk about what you'd like to create, how you'll use the photographs and find a location that suits. I'll also help with clothing, ideas and anything else you're unsure about.

During

We'll spend around 90–120 minutes together, using the light, the location and whatever unfolds naturally. I'll guide you when needed, but there's no rigid shot list or rushing through poses.

After

I will select and individually edit your finished photographs in my signature style, ready for you to view and download from your private online gallery.

A FEW THINGS YOU MIGHT BE WONDERING

I hate having my photograph taken. Is this actually for me?
Yes. In fact, you're probably fairly typical. You don't need to be confident in front of a camera and you certainly don't need to know how to pose. Helping you get past that initial awkwardness is part of my job.

Can I bring someone with me?
Of course you can bring someone along for moral support, but the session itself and finished photographs are for one person.

Do you photograph couples or families?
These particular portrait sessions are designed for one person. For couples looking for something more experience-led, have a look at The Auld Romantics Coffee Club Portrait Experience in Glencoe.

What should I wear?
We'll talk about that beforehand. What works best depends on you, the location and what we're trying to create. You won't simply be sent off to figure it out alone.

Can I use my Personal Portrait photographs for my business?
Personal Portrait sessions include personal use only. If the photographs are going to represent you professionally, promote your business or be used commercially, choose the Professional Portrait session.

What if it rains?
We're in Scotland, so a little weather doesn't necessarily stop us! If conditions genuinely aren't suitable for the session we've planned, we'll discuss the best option rather than forcing something that isn't going to work.

Lets start creating

Ready to create something?

You don't need a special occasion or a reason to have photographs of yourself.

You might want to mark where you are in life right now. You might need photographs for the work you're putting into the world. Or you might simply have an idea you've always fancied bringing to life.

Whatever brought you here, tell me what you're thinking.
